Teenage Years

Maria usually comes home from school feeling terrible.

(Note that the Plumbob is red)

I'm actually pretty proud of myself, because I managed to get a pretty decent picture of her on the schoolbus. I usually can't get their head or something, but I somehow did it this time.

She doesn't look very happy, though, does she? Then again, she never does.

She went home for an hour before the carpool came to take her to work.

(You know, the driver kind-of reminds me of Windy over at the Splines)

Meanwhile, I stopped Kiera from taking the carpool home one day when she wasn't feeling too stressed and had her introduce herself to some people eating at her restaurant. This man's name is Sinbad Rotter, but sadly, he's not single.

Anyway, Maria and Kiera had earned enough money to buy an easel and some outside lighting.

Money left afterward: 374 simoleons.

Maria recieved a grade-related opportunity telling her to bring fish to the science lab for an experiment. I had her paint a bit before sending her out to fish.

She caught a minnow, but the science center was closed, so she couldn't bring it there until the next day.

Kiera had the next day off, so I sent her to the park.

This is Alistaire Pine. I had her ask if he was single.

Good news, he is! I'll keep him on book for the future.

Broken Appliances

Big news-Maria SMILED!!! If only briefly. She was playing with her teddy, which is her only source of fun.

(Also, I'm having trouble deciding on Picture Sizes for my blog. This is large, and below is Extra Large. Tell me what you think)

The next day, Maria had to use the restroom (it was Saturday, so she couldn't go at school), and Kiera had been having her two days off of work. Therefore, they had no money to afford the repair person. And, if you read the last post, our absent-minded Kiera refused to fix it for herself. I had to send Maria sown the street to the neighbor's house.

Then she had to rush home to avoid being picked up by the police for being out after curfew.

She was so tired by then that she nearly nodded off in the living room.

The next day-whoopee!-it was Maria's birtday. I threw her a party and invited many people, completely forgetting that Maria is a "Loner" and get's the "Too Many People" negative moodlet.

Her clothes aren't that bad, for Sims 3, but her hair had to go. Sadly, I didn't remember to do this until later (partly because they don't have a mirror).

She gained the trait of "Kleptomainiac", by the way.

Maria's first teenage wish was to "Get a Part-Time Job". Thinking about her "Loner"-ness, I sent her to the Mausoleum.

Also, I forgot to mention! The two of them FINALLY had enough money for another chair!

And a bookshelf! (That's that wooden pannel-like thing on the wall).

Maria woke early the next morning with a wish to "Learn a Logic Skill", so I put their new bookshelf to use.

Finally, a mirror they could afford! I changed her hair back to what it used to be as a child.

I just thought it suited her. She smiles more as a teen.

After her first day at her new job, Maria wasn't feeling her best.

She went home and actually had a nice, quailty conversation with her mom. (They don't talk much-with both of them working and such.)

Also-surprise!-Kiera got promoted at work after working so hard on her cooking skill, which came with a big raise and a HUGE cash bonuse. They could afford some excersise equipment! (this will be needed for the career I picked out for Maria)

I have decided that Maria's destiny is to be a thief (which is why I gave her the Kleptomaniac trait). Even though she's cowardly. A cowardly theif.

Well, I honestly do believe that with the both of them working, they'll be able to scrape by.

Daily Life with No Money

Here is a screenshot of their lonely homestead:

So sad!

After eating her birthday cake, Maria went to bed and dreamed about...bathtubs?

(In case you didn't notice, I'm making the pictures bigger this time. Last time they were a bit small, and you couldn't exactly see everything).

The next morning, when Maria got up and got her breakfast, Kiera was hogging the only good seat in the house and Maria was forced to make other plans.

Hmm, I'll have to get them another seat soon, because that just bothers me.

Now it's off to school!

Meanwhile, Kiera goes about her daily business (she's not called to work until 3:00).

When not cooking or gardening, Kiera sits unhappily in the dim bathroom.

No thought bubble or anything. But hey, she's absent-minded, so who knows?

Maria came home with a friend named...um...well, she came home with a friend. I think her first name was Zo, but I don't know about the last name. She looks like a 30-Year-Old in a child's form, if you ask me.

"So you see, if you really think about it, all of those shooting stars out there could be these huge rocks..."
Maria seemed quite enraptured by whatever she was saying.

Soon Zo had to go home, and Kiera helped Maria finish her homework.

Then their shower broke, and with not enough money to call the repairman to fix it, I set Kiera to fix it. But, well...

She REFUSED to fix it, no matter how many times I tried.
"Hmm, I sure wish this shower was fixed so that I could get clean. That's too bad."

Sigh

Welcome to Pride of the Family!

Welcome! This is my Sims 3 blog about the Pride family, currently consisting of Kiera Pride and her adopted daughter, Maria Pride.

Kiera hopes to find love, but hasn't had any luck so far. The Pride family decided to move into Twinbrook suddenly, but couldn't find a house that they could afford furnished. The house they finally settled on came with the kitchen and the bathroom, and they had just enough money for a double bed and a crib.

Kiera is a "Natural Cook", which explains why her first Wish was to "Join the Culinary Career". They can't live with just a double bed, crib, kitchen and bathroom for forever, so I was happy to oblige.

Of course, the Culinary career needs cooking abilities, so I set her to the kitchen. She was in the middle of cooking Mac and Cheese when she wandered off (probably due to her "Absent-Minded" trait) to use the restroom, and the burnt macaroni set their small kitchen on fire. *sigh*

Kiera tried to put out the fire before the fireman got there. I love how the fireman looks like he's walking away from the fire. "AAHHH! FIRE! Oh, yeah, um...where's my firehose..."

The firefighter stuck along for a while, so I decided to take this moment as an oportunity. He's single, which is a good sign! And Kiera's romantic interactions were well recieved.

Right up until she went in for the Fist Kiss.

I don't think Maria there in the corner of the photo even knows what's going on.

Anyway, after a few more tries at First Kiss (which were taken in the same way, not really rejecting but not accepting either), the man left before I remembered to put down his name on the pad of paper I play with (got the idea from The Splines)

To distract herself from heartache, Kiera moved on with Toddler Buisness.

Though she still couldn't seem to get her wants out of her mind, aparently...

After this, the two retired to their beds.

The next day, Kiera (who also has the "Green Thumb" trait) started gardening.

This can help her money problems with the boost of what her plants grow.

After her first day at work, Kiera had enough money to buy a picnic-like table and ONE CHAIR.

And a birthday cake for Maria, who had been left with a babysitter (that Kiera couldn't pay for!) all day. (By the way, is it just me or are the cakes rediculously expensive?

Love the look on Kiera's face...

Don't you just hate how the burn marks from the fire NEVER GO AWAY?!?!

Now time for a spot of gardening as Maria sits down to enjoy what's probably the greatest-tasting thing she's ever had.

And I do believe that the life of a money-deprived sim has made Maria seem a bit...emo, don't you think? Just look at that hair!
